Four Documentary Features That Take On Hitler And The Reich From Four Different Angles
"The Hitler Chronicles" brings together four intriguing documentaries that shed interesting perspective on one of history's most notorious figures. Several of these films have been kicking around for years, so make sure you don't already own them. If not, though, this is a compelling and solid set. I appreciated that each film took on a unique perspective.

The Architecture of Doom (4 1/2 stars): This Swedish film from 1989 approaches the Hitler phenomenon from a fairly unique vantage point. Its greatest strength, therefore, is that it isn't simply a retread of material you've seen in countless other places. Writer/director Peter Cohen really attempts to get at the heart of how Adolf Hitler thought. It contends that many of the prominent members of the party were failed/aspiring artists and this flowed over into their worldview. How did art affect Hitler's aesthetic perspective of the world?
