Timetravel_0 (Institutional Use)

Not the truths I was looking for.
This "documentary" starts off with some intriguing hooks that immediately drag your mind into the pool of time travel lore. However, once you've been beaten with the stick of curiosity, the main interviewer, Cris, starts throwing herself into the story by putting on little "acts" to represent what you are supposed to believe went down during the timeline of Titor (2000 - 2001ish). The acts aren't all that bad though, just not completely believable. My main issue with this "documentary" was the little effort it did to further teach you about John Titor. It did mention his forum posting, time machine manuals, "missions", the IBM 5100 and etc, but it didn't elaborate too much on the future predictions, the CERN corruption, the "future" life, the time divergence, M-theory and so on. This documentary seemed to be more focused on the "government" defying main character, Cris, as she further investigates the John Titor case...up until the point where she is kidnapped by the man himself for...

The Best John Titor Documentary
John Titor is the Only Time Travler Who's Predictions Came True , This Documentary was Confiscated by the US Government for 2 Years and then Released , Wou will se this in the Documentary . it has Won more than a Dosen Awards. You Cannot Find it on the internet or any place else, ther are a Few Dvd's Remaining on amazon.com i bought 1 and 7 of my fridns bought it . i wonder why this Documentary was not Shown on Discovery Channel . Search the internet for John Titor and you will see What great man he was and the His Prediction about the Large Hadron Collider and The Evil CERN That is Trying to Rule the World .

Just a joke
started off ok, but quickly degenerated into a silly joke. I was led to believe there is some serious investigation on titor. there is much more to this story, but this film only made fun of it. It is now in the land fill, or it could have been separated out and taken to the incinerators.

Jerry Herman's Broadway at the Hollywood Bowl

One Fantastic Concert!
This has to be the best concert I have ever seen. Two hours of great performers (too bad Angela Lansbury could not be there) singing the music of Jerry Herman (Mame, La Cage, Hello Dolly, Dear World, The Grand Tour, Milk and Honey, Mack and Mabel, and for tv Mrs. Santa Clause). We get a full plate of great stars including Bea Arthur, Carol Channing, Michael Feinstein, and many more.

The sound on this program is superb, great stereo separation. The filming was first rate. The performances are timeless. The nicest part is that Don Pippin, Jerry Herman's right-hand man for orchestration and conducting, is here, and leads the full orchestra with the type of orchestrations that make Jerry's music shine, and exactly the kind of orchestrations he likes for his music, so no 2nd rate arrangements. There are also 3 orchestral medleys that are terrific. My favorite on the disc is Michael Feinsteins superb rendition of "I Wont Send Roses." No other person could sing this so so...

Hello Jerry, Hello Carol, Wonderful Video!
I saw this on PBS several years ago and I taped it. Unfortunately they had audio trouble on one orchestral medley. I saw it here and ordered it immediately. It's wonderful. Carol Channing gives a hilarious introduction. There is an international Dolly who sing Hello Dolly! the way it would be done in other countries and a "Hello, Deli" and Hello,Lyndon" and of course the original Dolly, Carol Channing. Davis Gaines sings Song on the Sand beautifully. This is a gorgeous song and gorgeously done. Ditto to Leslie Uggams' rendition of If He Walked Into My Life. Marvelous! These are my two favorites and I listen to them/watch them over and over again. Lee Roy Reams does marvelous imitations of Louis Armstrong, Carol, and Pearl Bailey and Marlene Dietrich and Mae West on La Cage Aux Folles. Love It Only Takes a Moment and many of the others.Only wish that the whole song would have been sung. I have seen the sheet music and some is left out in the movie and play and I have...

Excellent!
This is an excellent concert for musical lovers. Especially Jerry Herman fans. I recommend it highly. Michael Feinsteins rendition of "I Won't Send Roses" will give you chills and Leslie Uggams is impeccable.

Hedy & Yumi: Crossing the Bridge (with Spanish Subtitles)

Crossing the Bridge
This provides marvelous inspiration for all relationships. Hedy and Yumi make the journey to connection very real, human and accessible. Yea!

Great movie
Me and my husband just wanted to see what it was about, but we ended up watching the entire movie till the end. I think some of the points on communication were well taken and we have actually learned something valuable that we could put to use right away.

ATP Tour Pro Vince Spadea, "Play Tennis Like A Pro" Mastering the Pro Forehand!

Excellent technique and explanations
Good explanations help pick up the techniques nicely; has very detailed overview of the forehand ; good footwork hints, unlike other videos

Great Lessons and Coach! Coach Spadea delivers top notch tennis techniques for the Modern Game!
The Vince Spadea "Play Like Tennis A Pro" DVD set is a terrific series and a real eye opener to the modern game as it is played by today's top competitors like Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. I am amazed at the amount of information Coach Spadea covers in each DVD. Since viewing the lessons I have been able to make corrections that have immediately improved all aspects of my game. I have added more speed, power and accuracy to all my shots including serve, forehand and backhand by applying the modern techniques presented. I'm happiest with my serve since I have been able to easily add 10 miles an hour to my first serve by making the correct body mechanic adjustments Coach Spadea shows. I have taken numerous lessons and to be honest no club pro has ever come near to presenting the valuable details for proper tennis techniques as Spadea does. Vince Spadea is a great teacher and his pure clean powerful shot making is truly impressive, I hope to meet him one day and highly recommend his DVD...

Flesh

A Day in the Life of Joe
Certainly not for everyone's taste (the first camera shot will establish that) but a great introduction to the JOE TRILOGY. Just for the record, Andy did NOT direct this or any other of the Joe films! These are all Paul Morrissey! The opening shot however was an homage to the early static films that Warhol was famous for, more specifically 'SLEEP'. At any rate the sound was edited 'in-camera' and there are even whole sequences without sound AT ALL!!!! So don't be surprised by the poor audio. The film was also edited likewise and there is an audible POP at each edit. Do not attempt to adjust your set or return the dvd, it;s all part of the experience!!! Oh... and Joe D'Alllesandro stars in it (sometimes with his clothes on).

CLASSIC !!
I've never seen any Joe Dallesandro film, but watching thisfilm made me into an instant fan! In my own opinion, this is a trueclassic. I can't wait till next payday so I could get the rest of the Warhol/Morrissey movies! The movie was just so real and so documentary-like -- I just love it!

Warhol Produced, Morrissey Directed
Some reviewers are clearly unaware of the backstory to this film. Andy Warhol only participated in this film and those produced after it has Producer. Warhol only was only involved with the stars who were close friends, such as Candy Darling. Of course it is very easy to understand why; this film was shot only weeks after Andy was nearly murdered by SCUM founder Valerie Solanas (Salonas only starred in one of the infamous Audition reels, and had a brief role in I, a Man so I don't think she's deserving of the title Star). The closest that Andy ever came to directing after the incident was fueling the tension between his three Beauty Queens in Women in Revolt over the phone.

But making Joe a Street Hustler was Andy's idea. Andy was greatly dissapointed that the film Midnight Cowboy became so successful, he felt that it stole its plot from his film My Hustler starring Paul America. Joes original profession in this film was a Boxer, but Andy remembered hearing Joe talk...

Underworld: The Legacy Collection (Underworld / Underworld: Evolution / Underworld: Rise of the Lycans / Underworld: Awakening) [Blu-ray]

Great set!! Just wish they would have "remastered" the older two of the set.
Cool to get this four disc set with all four of the Underworld movies. Very disappointed Sony just repackaged the old blu rays and added the fourth one to make a set. They know that this franchise sells, so why not at least remaster the first two with the newer technologies of today. The first one was made awhile ago when blu ray technology was new. If any of the movies deserve a "remastering" it would be the first Underworld. A new hi def video transfer along with new soundtrack utilizing DTS-HD. And why use the same covers with each film housed in a blue plastic case (like typical blu ray) and not red ones or even a fold out type so the set would be thinner. These studios need to start making these "collections" collectible for the fans. But, they know how to save money AND make money. The last I checked this set is selling mighty well. Especially when you can get the whole set a few dollars more than Awakening alone.
All in all, this is a good set to show off to your friends...

Great Collection, But the Packaging
To have all four movies on Blu Ray is great, but I'm a sucker for collection packaging. Seems they just wrapped the standalone cases in a thin holder to match the release date of Awakening. A little more appreciation of the product would have been nice, but I guess I'm buying the movies, nonetheless.

Underworld Quadrilogy on Blu-ray
Underworld fans get a 4-disc Blu-ray Legacy Collection with four films: Underworld, Evolution, Rise of the Lycans and Awakening. This release adds Awakening to the Blu-ray collection but it remains the weakest of the films (the 3D version is not included but sold separately). UltraViolet Digital Copy codes are provided for the films. Overall, the picture quality is good but varies by film (the first three films could use a good remastering). However, the audio is great. There is over 5.5 hours of bonus content which is somewhat light for 4 films. Additional extras for Evolution and Rise of the Lycans would make this release a little more deluxe since Underworld gets the lion's share of the bonus content. Underworld fans who own the Trilogy Blu-ray collection may consider purchasing Awakening 3D on Blu-ray separately instead of upgrading to this set since it contains the same extras. The Underworld Legacy Collection is somewhat disappointing since it simply bundles the stand-alone...

La Haine (The Criterion Collection) [Blu-ray]

Hypnotizing from beginning to end.
I loved this movie the first time I saw it and have seen it at least a dozen times since. It is a powerful story told as seen through the eyes and lives of three friends who are living in Paris during the riots. The direction of this movie is delicious and so is the character development. A beautiful job is done in introducing each of the three main characters and in giving a bit of insight in to each of their personal lives. One is a tough guy with a chip on his shoulder and something to prove, another a good guy who has no choice but to sell hash to support his family, and the third a kid who doesn't seem to care about much other than getting laid and trying to impress his friends. What really caught me about this movie was how realistic I found it. It was funny and hard and real and disturbing and fabulous. I highly recommemend this film to anyone who enjoys quality and substance. It has an AWESOME soundtrack too!!!

you will not regret buying this.
i have waited forever to buy this movie states-side. the only copy i've ever owned was on vhs and i lost it a long time ago. its been so long since the movie first came out; i remember that it was available as a zone 2 dvd in a european magazine or newspaper (it is common in some countries for them to distribute dvds this way).

anyway. im curious to see what criterion adds to this movie. this movie is a definitive "hip-hop" classic. and not many people know about it here. truly a gem.

Been waiting a long time...
This is one of those movies that sticks in your head. I rented it on VHS years ago when it first came out. I heard about it through its attachment to Jodi Foster's production company Egg Pictures. They help it to get released in the States. From the opening voiceover hurtling towards the ground, to the brutal ending, it will move you. The performances are terrific, and the screenplay does a fabulous job of ratcheting up the tension as the movie progresses.

Whatever your feelings and knowledge about the issues surrounding immigration, this movie shows you how from the immigrants' perspective, the tensions of their new society can clash with those of their original ethnic society into a powderkeg waiting to blow. The three main characters are young and in over their heads. Their feelings of helplessness combine with the fortuitous discovery of a policeman's lost gun to lead them where their not sure they really want to go. It's an intersting and powerful dilemma to...

ehh
More of a documentary then a well put together show. I read the article online and it was quicker and more informative then the dvd was.

Inside the business of demo derby.
I have been to numerous demolition derbies before, but this DVD goes into the inside track of how the setup and use of the cars are, there is more to it than removing the windows and hitting each other. I would have liked to see more of the actual events over the documentary of the business, but it had reasonable balance.

Neither Here Nor There (Institutional License)

Excellent resource for teachers of international schools
All international schools are cross-cultural environments. Students leave the culture of the local community and enter a new world in these walls. This film helps to address the unique needs of students in cross cultural environments. Of course, the main focus is on Third Culture Kids. But, most international schools have many hidden TCKs even though caregivers never seem to know what that means. This film can help any teacher / caregiver enrich his or her understanding of the unique needs of such hidden immigrants and their peers. Many times, international teachers see a sea of students with the same color skin and assume that students are united by culture. This film can address that blind-spot as well as help broaden caregivers' understandings of how cross-cultural experiences are different for children than for adults.

The Mel Brooks Collection [Blu-ray]

What a Great Collection - Filled With Extras
I was originally looking to only replace one DVD movie. However when I went looking on Amazon I saw that the collection was on a Timed Deal on Amazon. It had an extreme price cut and I could not pass it up. However even at the higher price it appears to be a value balancing both the content and price per disk in the set. I believe it to be worth the investment so as one would say the buy is not just a "Roll in the Hay" (pardon the Pun).

Here is the low down on the collection:

1) The Box and Packaging of the disks is very good. Includes a cover box and a plastic multi-disk case. (The disks did not shift out of their spot in shipping) Disks also go in and out of the case easily. The Silk Screening on the Box Art is well done. Great selection of Cover Art which is a picture of Mel Brooks as a "Director".
2) You receive quite a number of movies for the price. Silk Screening on the disks is clean and crisp.
3) The picture quality is better than...

Good set but I'd wait for the individual releases--phone # for Fox Cust. Svc
Most of the movies here are classics which makes it a problem if you don't want all the movies. The version of "Blazing Saddles" is the earlier release from Warner which doesn't look as good as the 30th Anniversary re-release and the extras aren't any great shakes. The transfer looks so-so and lacks the sharper look of the later 30th Anniversary Edition. "Young Frankenstein" resembles the first DVD release of the film from Fox with the same extras. Reportedly "Young Frankenstein" was supposed to be remastered in anamorphic widescreen but the wrong master used or the wrong discs shipped with this set. For those that care it's not anamorphic. The film looks extremely good but if you already have these classic films, I'd suggest waiting for these to be released individually.

Fans of Brooks will be buying this for the previously unreleased films "Silent Movie", "Robin Hood:Men in Tights", "To Be or Not to Be" (which Brooks didn't direct but stars in) and "High Anxiety". All...

Great Set for a Great Price!
Since I grew up in the 80's, I grew up with Mel Brooks' films. I have been a fan for as long as I can remember. When I saw this set listed on Amazon for $45.99, I couldn't pass it up. I must say that Fox has outdone themselves here. Those of you who have been buying Fox's DVDs and blu-rays probably know that there is nothing special about the majority of them, as many are lacking special features, etc. But not so with this set. First of all, the video transfers on all nine movies are simply incredible. I have watched all of these movies on DVD in the past, and the blu-ray versions just blows them all away. Every movie also has an impressive collection of special features. These include excellent documentaries (many of which are in HD), deleted scenes, trailers, TV Spots, etc. My only (albeit small) complaint here is that I wish more of the films had commentaries, because I love listening to Mel talk about the making of his movies. He is funny, witty, and he tells a great story. Also...

Salsa 101 (Shawn Trautman Dance Instruction)

Any 101 in this series means clapping out the beat first
I bought several dance instruction DVDs by Shawn Trautman (and others) to help my father to learn the Latin dance steps. Shawn has several wonderful dance instruction videos, but I have learned to read the labels carefully. If the title is "[Dance Step] 101," three of the five sections will be devoted to clapping out the beat, learning how to connect to your partner (hand placement) and tips for giving a strong lead. The fourth track offers several dance steps. The fifth track puts it all together as the couple dances.
Since I wanted my father to be familiar with appropriate steps for the faster music played in ballrooms, my strategy for teaching him was to buy the appropriate "sampler" DVD so he could see the dance performed [see my other reviews], the "Salsa 101" DVD reviewed herein and finally the best Mambo DVD that I could find. (Mambo steps are the same as Salsa, and my father needed styling tips beyond the basic footstep pattern.)
This particular product is very good...

Very well made with easy to follow instructions
After taking a Salsa class recently, I felt the class did not cover enough moves for me to show at the dance floor. So I decided to get this DVD and I am glad I did. It had enough moves for me to show on the dance floor and they were very well explained and demonstated. Being able to quickly rewind and watch the moves over was a plus.

Guin Saga: Complete Collection [Blu-ray]

Enjoyable fantasy.
This is one of the better anime series I have seen. I won't give away much of the story but I enjoyed watching this. It was tastefully done, viewable by a younger audience than many anime series and movies these days, yet intellectual enough for an adult viewer. There were character arcs that I would have like to have been resolved better at the end of the series, but this probably cannot be helped since this is an adaptation of the beginning of a large series of books. The way this series ends has closure but leaves room for more story to be told, and the books probably continue the story. I particularly wanted to know the mysterious origins of the character Guin, but this DVD set does not reveal this. I hope that one day they will continue this series so I can see what happens next, but since it has been a few years since this show has aired, that is not likely. Despite the loose ends left at the end, this series is worth watching and I highly recommend it.

Why do all the good ones just go away??
LOVED this series. -And in ENGLISH TOO@!!???!?!??
Normally I'm not so into the english-dubbed versions, but the acting was top notch and the story, -that I honestly happened to pick randomly for no reason, had me watching non-stop for three days. -Only to find out that there is No Season 2!!!
Waaaahh. Need Prozac now :(
SUCH a great and very intricate and incredibly well-woven story and very well done.. such a shame they didn't produce a second, and continuing seasons. -so if you're reading.... producer people,. Please get on it. You guys did an amazing job.
I will definitely be picking up the books, but the show is outstanding. -Also, Eureka 7 is another absolutely fantastic show -I watched that in Japanese. One of my all-time fav's. :) -anyhow, Guin Saga:
I'm still in shock at how much I enjoyed it. Now I miss it. -Been looking for anything even close only to turn off netflix in frustration at there being nothing as yet I've found to be its equal -...

Entertaining, but...
14 year old twins, Princess Rinda and Prince Remus, escape from their home city when it is attacked by the Mongaul, using a strange device hidden in the palace which transports them to the Forest of Rood. There they encounter a strange leopard-headed man named Guin. Guin saves them from Mongaul solders and then continues to travel with and protect them while he searches for his lost memories and the meaning of the only thing he does remember, the word "Aurra."

I enjoyed this series. I couldn't really care about any of the characters (the twins are especially annoying), but the world was fascinating and the mysteries many. It was interesting just to see where the characters ended up next. The politics were also fun. The plotting, the scheming, the deception!

Guin Saga is an epic fantasy story that spanned 130 light novels (short books, but it adds up). The series ran from 1979 to 2009, when the author died before finishing it. Needless to say, the anime doesn't...

Cha Cha 101 (Shawn Trautman Dance Instruction)

A Fun Dance to Learn thanks to Shawn and Joanna
This is our third Shawn Trautman 101 Dvd and we loved it. Apparently, all their 101 dvd's have the same organization of: 1. Intro, 2. Rhythm & Timing, 3. Connection and Style, 4. Leading & Following, and 5. a Review. This format works extremely well for my wife and I, and it makes it quite easy to return to particular sections of the dvd for follow-up review and practice. Although it might be elementary for experienced dancers, I found the Rhythm and Timing section particularly helpful in getting me started, and I liked the way Shawn breaks down the beat and then builds it from clapping, to walking, to the basic dance step. Shawn and Joanna again do a wonderful job of explaining the basics together for both the leader and the follower, and they share many helpful tips in both the Connection/Style and Lead/Follow sections of the dvd. They cover several moves beyond the basic step and by the end of the dvd you will have a complete enough group of moves or figures to thoroughly...

Once you practice with ChaCha 101, Cha Cha will become one of your favorite dances!
The Shawn Trautman Cha Cha 101 is extremely easy to follow. Shawn teaches the leader's part, and his wife Joanna teaches the followers part. In no time, you will be doing the Cha Cha and loving it! If you have questions, you can ask Shawn on Facebook! Customer Service is outstanding! I paid less for the Cha Cha 101 than I did for 15 minutes of private lessons...and I can keep practicing with the DVD! Such a great value!

Camp Victory, Afghanistan (Institutional Use- University/College)

Excellent Insightful Film
Our unit is preparing to deploy to Afghanistan. We viewed the film as partr of our training to work with the Afghan Security Forces. The film provided some interesting perspectives on the Afghan leadership and the challenges of training and equipping these forces. This film was an excellent training tool. I would highly recommend this film to anyone who is deploying to Afghanistan or anyone who has an interest in the present and future of Afghanistan.

Outstanding documentary
Outstanding documentary that shows day to day issues faced by a mentoring team in Afghanistan. Ms Dysinger does a nice job showing the extremely complex non-kinetic side of the war, and how both Coalition and Afghan Soldiers work through multiple rotations.

A beautiful, complex yet perfectly balanced story
I have seen this film several times now. It's an amazing feat of access, structure, and storytelling. This is one of the very few American films that give a voice to the Afghans - and it does so with tremendous respect, humor, and understanding. Given that it deals with such a potentially polarizing issue as the US presence in Afghanistan, Camp Victory is incredibly balanced and honest in the picture it paints. It does not seem to advocate for one side or another; rather, it simply seeks to tell one story of US-Afghan relationships through its two main characters - general Sayar and colonel Shute. If you come to this film with preconceived notions, you're likely to find them challenged; if you come with an open mind or no preset agenda, you're likely to get hooked on the joys of seeking a layered understanding of the situation on the ground. Seems like Afghanistan offers plenty of opportunity for that.

Singing Detective

The play's the thing....
THE SINGING DETECTIVE is a compelling, funny, and heart wrenching mystery starring Michael Gambon as Phillip Marlowe: writer, protagonist, and hospital patient. Patrick Malahyde (Middlemarch) flawlessly plays Marlowe's nemesis (nemeses)-three different characters with three different British accents. The cast also includes Janet Suzman as wife, lover and vamp; Alison Steadman (Mrs. Bennet in the recent production of `Pride and Prejudice') as wife, mother, lover, and vamp (Marlene Dietrich lookalike), Joanne Whalley (ex-Kilmer) as nurse, etc.; and the housekeeper from the BBC television series `As Time Goes By' as the school teacher from your worst nightmare.

In addition to the superb cast and wonderful settings filled with vintage WWII elements, one can watch `The Singing Detective' for the pure entertainment provided by a convoluted plot, quirky characters, musical segments, and many humourous moments. One of my favorite scenes occurs when Marlowe responds to the ministrations...

Absolutely brilliant
Dennis Potter's The Singing Detective is, quite simply, the greatest
work in film or television ever. Every scene is fascinating in its
own right, and as you see more of the series earlier moments take on
new significances as it is learned how they relate to the series as a
whole. The Singing Detective deals with a hospital-bound mystery
writer who is suffering from a crippling skin disease. In addition to
the often horribly funny scenes involving his current plight, we see
flashbacks of his childhood, fantasies about his estranged wife, and
episodes from one of his novels. The stories all gradually start to
connect with each other.... Potter constantly alters chronology, and
yet does so in such a masterful way that everything always makes
sense. And oh yes, there are musical numbers. Many aspects of this
series have been appropriated by later films such as Pulp Fiction
(with its time-shuffling) and Dancer in the...

An Absolutely Brilliant Adaptation Of Potter's Screenplay!
I'm hesitant to call this a musical, though that's precisely what it is. Dennis Potter wrote several musicals over the years, using different eras of music. This one is, by far, the best! The music here is from the 1940s. The drama, however, is actually a contemporary one. A (failed?) mystery writer named Philip Marlowe is hospitalized with a severe case of psoriasis...more corrrectly, psoriatic arthropathy (which Potter also suffered from). He has this one great novel in his past, though..."The Singing Detective." Marlowe's illness is terribly severe, and throughout the film we join his delirium as he relives events from his childhood, falls into a fascinating fantasy based on his novel, and comes back (from time to time) to the events currently happening in the hospital. These three streams are brilliantly intertwined, and the resulting story is absolutely THE BEST THING *EVER* TO HIT TELEVISION! This is *not* hype or exaggeration! The other reviewers are...

Shazzan: The Complete Series

Alex Toth does the Arabian Nights!
I never watched "Shazzan" growing up, and that is saying something from a cartoon junky like me. I would watch pretty much anything animated. I watched all of the other Hanna Barbara shows; "The Herculoids," "Space Ghost," "Birdman," " Frankenstein Jr.," ... but not "Shazzan". I refused to watch it because I was a huge Captain Marvel fan, and the whole Shazam / Shazzan thing offended my sensibilities. (I was a true geek even as a kid, apparently).

Older and wiser now, I took the plunge and dove into this long-shunned Alex Toth production, and found an excellent, goofy, and surprisingly edgy late `60s cartoon.

The `60s and `70s wasn't exactly the greatest time for American cartoons. Budgets were tight, techniques were limited, and simplistic stories were recycled over and over again. "Shazzan" is no different, and repeats a basic magic item / unfulfilled quest scenario for all 36 episodes. Everything you need to know about the story is summed up in the...

Shazzan review
I am a fan of Shazzan from way back. I especially like the character's powers and how Shazzan often laughed in the face of his enemies(because he knew he had the power to defeat them). I also like the twins and the flying camel and how Shazzan and others interacted with them. This had action, comedy and kept my interest. Shazzan is a different kind of superhero(arabic) which goes to show that a superhero doesn't have to be fit into a (WASP) stereotype which gives a broader range to the character. I would highly recommend this cartoon to anyone who likes fantasy, superheroes, the arabian knights or just wants to see something different and enjoyable. Try Shazzan. I think you'll like it!

Not the perfect movie!!
I found this movie had the worse dialogue and the movie left much to be desired. I managed to watch it to the end, however, it really was a waste of time.

In a word, this film is silly. Impossible to take seriously. If you watch and hate it, I told you so.

Eclipse Series 32: Pearls of the Czech New Wave (Pearls of the Deep, Daisies, A Report on the Party and Guests, Return of the Prodigal Son, Capricious Summer, The Joke) (Criterion Collection)

A brief but brilliant era of experimental filmmaking
I've been eagerly awaiting a collection like this, spotlighting the burst of energy & imagination that was the Czech New Wave in the 1960s, for a long time. During the short period that it flourished, before the crackdown following the Prague Spring, it allowed young directors to respond to their world & its immense changes with very personal, almost Surrealist films. The grim reality of everyday life, as well as the struggle to resist that reality imposed from without, was dissected with humor, absurdity, and often avant-garde techniques. Yet it was always rooted in centuries of Czech culture.

The first film, "Pearls of the Deep", offers five short films from the five directors whose full-length films comprise the rest of the collection. These short pieces are in a fabulist, sometimes Kafkaesque vein; the Surrealist influence is also present, as it filtered in from the cultural explosion of the 1960s worldwide. This initial anthology is a good primer: if you like what you...

Some Interesting Film Experiments for Film Purists
Criterion's Eclipse series tend to be art house B films, those that have a narrower appeal or are further off the beaten path than regular Criterion Collection releases, which get the full treatment and are released in blu-ray. Some Eclipse releases are actually pretty accessible, (i.e., Late Ozu), but others are for film purists that have some particular interest in the director or the focus of the set. This set of early attempts by young Czech filmmakers in the mid-60's, not all of whom went on the have film careers, is clearly in the cinema purist camp. They are interesting, more than "good", but certainly convey a sense of a radical and experimental rethinking of cinema. Not all of the experiments were successful, but all of the films have some aspects of creativity and none are predictable. One of the most interesting, though difficult to watch, is the early feminist piece, Daises, about the adventures of a couple of decidedly un-feminine young women. Perhaps the most...

Kojak: Season Four

Sad it will end...
This is a winter in New York season. Great idea. Very authentic. Plus, all those young actors: Richard Gere, William Hurt, and so on. What can I say when a TV show is better than movies?

Improves with every year
Kojak is a beloved time capsule of writing, acting, and often some street wisdom. Never gets old for me. Actually improves with age, like some of the best TV shows invariably do.

The Season Premiere sets the pace for this season.
From the opening episode, I already knew that Kojak still was the man. Because when you kidnap the niece of the best detective in NYC at that time, expect Kojak to take no prisoners. I mean no matter how you try to rattle this character, IT JUST DOESN'T WORK!!! So there you have it, short and sweet. The quality is outstanding, considering how old this series is. From the appearances of Richard Gere to Christopher Walken, you will not be disappointed by Season 4. After all, who else could win the Golden Globe nearly every season this show was on the air? Exactly! So stop reading this review and hurry up and buy the DVD. Then after you see for yourself, just think "Who loves ya, baby?!!"

The Octopus: Series 8-10

No Zing From Zingaretti
Zingaretti was out of his element. As Montalbano he is perfecto:
explosive, comedic and natural. La Piovra 8-10 was a major disappointment.
Everything went down hill: music, actors, plot, director, anamorphic screen
distortion and even graphics. The plots were really absurd and the
cinematography lame.
These episodes should have never been attached to the previous ones.
They were unnecessary and bad Hollywood emulations.

Great series
My husband and I were sorry to have this spellbinding series come to an end!!! We would have ordered more had there been more episodes!

The Final End
I am a huge fan of the Octopus series. This specific review is for Octopus 8-10. Octopus 8 & 9 break from the usual writing mode with new screenwriters and a look back into the past of major character Tano Carridi played brilliantly by Remo Girone. Tano has been a significant character since his introduction at the end of series 3. In Octopus 8 & 9, however, the character is a young boy growing up with a surrogate father since his mother was killed when Tano was a young child. We see this several times through flashbacks to the time her death occurred and Tano realizes who was responsible. At this young age, Tano is learning to cope with the way things are when the village is run by a Mafia don. He sees the current don killed and his real father taking over the role. Tano is clever and quick, but also manipulative. He develops a friendship with a young boy whom he prevents from being killed, but is instrumental in having his own father killed through manipulating the man's...

Combat Tai Chi (Tai Ji Quan) - Fighting Secrets of the Internal Combat Arts

Very Solid Instruction
I have been practicing taiji for 13 years. I still check out videos from teachers that I admire. Clear is one of those teachers. His teaching meets my own criteria which are:
1. True to the heart of the art (classics, internal principles, etc.)
2. Accessible--Not watered down, simply well explained/demonstrated.
3. Functional/Practical

The reason I continue to watch Clear's videos is that his expression of the ideas and mechanics are really wonderful. Sometimes I pick up information I haven't encountered before. But I always come away feeling like I understand things a little more deeply or catch on to some facets that I hadn't really noticed before. This is true in his Combat T'ai Chi as well. There are some different facets I've noticed from his explanation of the taiji in combat.

The internal aspects I was looking for
I am reviewing the Internal Combat Arts 16 week video series. I found this product extremely well done and VERY informational. The detail on how you need to feel internally as well as the external aspects of the art are worth every penny spent. This is NOT a monkey see, monkey do program but Sigung Clear gets into history as well as combat techniques detailing why a certain move is practiced, not just the move. I also now understand how other Tai Chi moves I have learned can be utilized as self defense tactics. The progression is logical and takes a "walk before you run" position without the "you must master these skills for ten years before we teach you how to use them" approach.

Quality Clear Video
Great video with quality instruction. In this video Richard Clear gives you no nonsense combative applications you can use for tai chi. It gives people and understanding about what tai chi is used for and what you can do with it in a combative situation. If you want someone to save you time and money then Clear is the way to go. I notice a lot of instructors out there who might give you a tai chi form but that's about it. Clear doesn't do this. The things he offers are things you can actually use in a real situation and nothing else.

The Virginian - Complete Season Six - 9 dvd's in Collectible Embossed Tin

An Improvement over Season Five!
Part way into this season, 76 year old Charles Bickford who played Shiloh owner John Grainger died forcing yet another big change at the ranch. Truth is, Bickford was a mediocre replacement for the orignal owner Judge Garth, played by the meritorious Lee J Cobb. Bickford was crusty, stiff and too old for the part. Enter: Clay Grainger, John's brother who then took over the ranch (although John's absence was never fully developed in its explanation)
Sometimes replacement can be a good thing and this time it was clearly an improvement. Clay Grainger was played by none other than the venerable John McIntire who acted the role with a commanding and likeable presence. Mac had been in this position before having replaced the deceased Ward Bond part way thru the Wagon Train series. Make no mistake, McIntire is perfect in this role. Not only that, his real life wife Jeanette Nolan plays his character wife Holly in The Virginian.
This is truly a refreshing change, given...

virginian episodes
Here are capsule impressions from season six of "The Virginian," another year of upheaval for the graying series, which still kept to a fairly high standard.

THE RECKONING -- Guest stars, Charles Bronson, Miriam Colon
Vengeance-minded outlaw chief holds The Virginian and Elizabeth Grainger captive, but his wife's near-term pregnancy complicates matters. Plucky Sara Lane butts heads with Bronson while fighting to save Colon's baby and Drury's bacon in solidly constructed episode directed by Charles S. Dubin and scored by Bernard Herrmann. Odd presence of street smart Charles Grodin, playing a taciturn, buckskin-clad heavy, isn't too distracting.

THE LADY FROM WICHITA -- Guest stars, Joan Collins, Rose Marie
Saloonkeeper conceals her past when she arrives in Medicine Bow to collect inheritance. Leisurely outing allows plenty of elbow room for spunky duo of foxy Collins and wisecracking Rose Marie, both very likable.

STAR CROSSED -- Guest stars,...

"The Virginian Season Six"
I bought the first two seasons of "The Virginian" and was completely satisfied with the shows. Season six has been somewhat disappointing. Despite the coming of John Mc Intire as the new owner of Shiloh, the childish scripts of several shows and the lack of the presence of the main characters on several episodes, The Virginian and Trampas, made those somewhat boring and uninteresting. Obviously, by season six the series had passed its best years. Still, several episodes are still top-notch and that made the investment on season 6 worthwhile.

The Lord of the Rings: The Motion Picture Trilogy (The Fellowship of the Ring / The Two Towers / The Return of the King Extended Editions) [Blu-ray]

Extended Blu ray: Do you need if you already own extended DVD editions? Review for both beginners and Die Hard LOTR fans
This is NOT the review of the movies. I am solely reviewing the facts that what EXTRA you get in this set than the previous editions. I will start with very basic facts for those who are baffled by so many editions being out there.
The basic facts-
LOTR series has basically two types of movies- a) Theatrical and b) Extended, each edition are available in both-DVD and Blu ray format.
Extended versions of the movies have humongous amount of extra film footage added to the theatrical editions (approx. 30, 40 and 50 additional minutes for movie 1, 2 and 3 respectively). So, go for the extended editions only if you are a die hard fan of the movies. If you are not, the review ends here. Buy whichever movie you like in your preferred format and enjoy. Thanks.

FOR LOTR FANS-
Let's get straight to-the-point. Now, many of you may as well own the DVD versions of LOTR (Either Theatrical or Extended ot both), and if you are trying to make a decision whether to spend...

LOTR - FAQ for the Blu-ray Extended Edition
Q - Is it worth it, especially if I already have the DVD edition?
A - To me it is because I like to watch movies at home on the biggest possible screen at the highest possible resolution. I still have the DVD editions - which I'm keeping because I like the artwork - and the quality gain on the Blu is significant.

Q - Could this edition be viewed as 'the gold standard'?
A - Yes. It has the extended cuts at the highest resolution with the best sound and the most extensive collection of special features.

Q - How many Blu-ray discs are in the box?
A - There are SIX Blu-ray discs. The additional 9 'extras' or 'bonus' discs are DVDs.

Q - Are the movies delivered on one disc each?
A - No. See above. Like the DVD extended edition, the movies are delivered on 2 discs each.

Q - Why aren't the movies delivered on one Blu-ray disc each?
A - Most Blu-ray players can only read single layer (25GB) and dual layer discs (50GB). Each...

The Ultimate DVD set for all time!
I already reviewed the regular "Motion Picture Trilogy" containing the non-extended editions of the legendary Lord of The Rings masterpieces on one set. However, this newest edition is a grand improvement on the previous edition. This item is a much, MUCH better investment than the old theatrical counterparts and is perhaps the greatest DVD purchase one will likely ever make.

A lot "Director's Cut" scenes are usually just added footage that doesn't do a whole lot to add onto the theatrical edition of movies with examples like Star Wars, Manhunter, or even most of the "Aliens" movies as well. The extra material is just that, extras, that wouldn't kill me to never see again.

It's a totally different story altogether with the "Lord Of The Rings" movies altogether. While the regular theatrical editions were mind-blowing, the extended cuts of the same films do wonders in fleshing out the story and expanding the characters a lot more. Several characters that were not...

Johnny Tremain

A wonderful way to celebrate Independence Day any day!
In the city of Boston in the 1770's, Johnny Tremain is an apprentice silversmith who is a bit too confident for his own good. When his master is offered a job that is too difficult for his aged skills, Johnny jumps at the opportunity to prove himself to the important customer, Mr. Lyte. But with the job, a deadline is also given, and to do the work in time, Johnny finds himself, along with his master's wife and daughter, breaking the law by working on a Sunday. While pouring molten silver under panicked conditions, Johnny is pushed into it and his right hand is badly burned.
Time passes, and Johnny must unwrap his burned fingers and get back to the work he is bound to do, but upon discovering that his fingers have healed and grown together, making his hand somewhat useless, he is cast out into the street to find a new home. But no one will hire a boy with one good hand, when there are plenty to be had with two. Johnny soon finds himself desperate, and goes to the home of rich...

What happened to Forbes' story?
Esther Forbes' "Johnny Tremain" is one of the greatest books ever written for young readers. The story is about a young silversmith apprentice who is finds himself swept up in the events of the American Revolution. Johnny participates in the Boston Tea Party, spies on the British, and mingles with such patriots as Sam Adams, John Hancock, and Paul Revere.

Like most movie versions of famous books, Walt Disney's "Johnny Tremain" takes many liberties with the story. In the book Johnny takes no part in the fighting at Lexington or Concord; in the movie Johnny is in the thick of the action. This would be forgivable had the film version been faithful to the message of Forbes' book which is the ideal of the American Revolution- "that a man can stand up"- came with the sacrifice of blood and young lives. It is here that the movie completly misses the mark. The book shows that war could extinguish the young lives of the best and brightest; the...

An enjoyable Disney rendition of the cause of the Revolution
This is an enjoyable Disney rendition of the causes of the American Resolution. No, it may not be faithful to the novel, and some of the historical events may not ring true to how they actually happened, however I am sure Disney did not intend them to be. This movie was made in 1957, the same time frame that Davey Crockett played by Fess Parker was made, America was caught up in patriotic fever and Disney was more than happy to serve this up to the viewing public. I did enjoy this movie, and the overall theme it was trying to portray, such as freedom from tyranny, the rights of every man from the wealthy to the silversmiths apprentice. This may not be a movie to analyze the Revolutionary War with, however it is a great starting point to discuss the Revolution with young ones, and those who do not know very much about the American Revolution. An enjoyable film that is recommended to those who like Disney and "light history".

Disneynature Four-Movie Collection (African Cats / Oceans / Earth / Crimson Wings) (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

Wonderful Collection of Nature Films!
This set includes all four Disneynature films (all of which can be purchased individually):

Disney Nature Earth (Blu-ray / DVD Combo)
Disneynature: Oceans (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo)
Disneynature: African Cats (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo in Blu-ray Packaging)
Disneynature: Crimson Wing - The Mystery of the Flamingo (Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo)

These nature documentaries are some of the best around... my favorite is African Cats!

I know that the films "Earth" and "Oceans" did recycle some footage captured by the BBC team on "Planet Earth". So if you already own that set, you will probably recognize many of the key shots in these films.

The...

The "Earth" Film Here Is Not "Planet Earth"
Just a quick note for anyone who thinks, as I did at first, that the "Earth" film here is actually "Planet Earth" put out by the BBC & Discovery. A lot of the footage is, in fact, the same; but this is a different, much shorter production: Planet Earth = 550 minutes; Earth = 90 minutes. So proceed to either buy this package or not buy it with that knowledge!

It's not bad...not great either
So I must agree with the other review saying all of this is recycled from Plant Earth and other BBC documentaries. In addition I wanted to point out that this "collection" is just the four blu rays shipped together (four separate cases wrapped together). There is no collector's box or anything like that. In addition I want say that my family owns pretty much all of the recent BBC nature documentaries on Blu Ray (not just the well known ones like Planet Earth and Life but also The Galapagos, Wild Pacific, Madagascar, Rift Valley, etc ). That being said, Earth had no new material. We only started watching Oceans but we're pretty sure that's all recycled material too.

Crimson Wings was pretty much all new material. The only problem is it's really slow and this is coming from a family that loves nature documentaries. After watching it, we all came to the consensus that it would have been much better if they had edited it to about half the running it actually was but then...

The Cosmogony of the three Worlds

Well Presented and Credible Theory
This is a must see for those of us seeking cogent theories to explain the various anomalies around the Earth. Through a series of striking images, Jan Peter de Jong has done an excellent job presenting Peruvian Alfredo Gamarra's unique theory that explains how the numerous vitrified and colossal megalithic ruins around the globe could have been created in the distant past.

Impressive theory
The differences in the three types of stone architecture of Peru's ancient ruins are readily observable to anyone who visits these sites. The Cosmogony of the Three Worlds puts forward a very well thought out and argued alternative to orthodox theory as to how and why these distinctly different styles exist. The conclusions made by the researcher Alfredo Gamarra are faithfully presented in this documentary. Although quite revolutionary in scope the vision of Alfredo Gamarra is sensitively treated by both Jan and Jesus. It's refreshing to see such an independent and original approach to a problem that many people refuse to see exists in the first place. If true or even partially true we could see some major pieces of the jigsaw puzzle fall into place. Why did nearly every major culture on Earth have the ability to build structures out of enormous stones that today we would have major problems with? Why do some of these stones bare markings that make them appear to have been poured or...

Interesting Theory
This documentary provides excellent examples of stonework created by at least two civilizations that had technology that we do not. Whereas most of the discussion is about sites located in Peru, at the end of the documentary they show sites in other parts of the world with the same characteristic stonework. After seeing this video, I have been to Peru to see some of these sites myself. Total mystery.

Being Caribou (Institutional Use)

Just Say No to Drilling in ANWR
This movie was featured at the Wild and Scenic Film Festival in Murphys, CA. What a wonderful way of showing the American Public how Caribou survive in such a harsh eviroment. A married couple follows Caribou herds for approx 150 consecutive days to find out how they live and travel. The movie shows the place where the calves are born and how sensitive a time this is for the mothers and calves. The place where they give birth happens to be where the Bush Administration wants to drill and extract oil. It could be considered a political movie, but really it's a wonderful nature film.

Being Caribou
Having read the book, I was curious to see the movie that had been made at the same time. I would recommend that interested people look at both.

The movie doesn't capture the sense of exhaustion and long travel that the book does, but it shows the heartbreaking beauty of the landscape and the wildlife. One element not mentioned in the book is the little toy George Bush who rides along on the trip, his plastic eyes appearing to consider what he sees.

In the end, I don't think anything said in the book or shown in the film has any chance to override the wishes of people who have no values other than power and profit. If nothing else, though, the film provides stunning visual documentation of a place that may soon be damaged or even wiped out entirely.

Why ALL of ANWR needs FULL Nat'l Wildlife Refuge protection or MORE; filmed with a touch of humor
Unfortunately, the 1002 Lands at the northwest corner of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge don't have this protection from possible oil drilling, in an area estimated to have oil reserves equal to less than six months of current needs.

More unfortunately, the Porcupine caribou herd doesn't recognize that it is in potential huge danger by coming here to calve every year, as the cows have for time immemorial from this large herd.

Husband-and-wife Heuer and Allison gave themselves a belated honeymoon -- follow the herd from its winter grounds to calving area and back, all while documenting it.

Heuer has worked in national parks programs in Canada and South Africa and already done yeoman environmental work by hiking the entire Yellowstone-to-Yukon or Y2Y corridor to popularize the need for extended wildlife area protections for large mammals.

The humor? The movie starts with clips of George H.W. Bush, followed by George W. Bush, both saying...

Ba Gua Zhang (Pa Kua Chang) - Fighting Secrets of the Internal Combat Arts

Stick with this teachers videos and you will take your martial art ability to the next level and beyond.
One of the most powerful things about Richard Clear's teaching ability,he hold countless styles under his belt, is the ease with which he explains it. He has the natural ability to break down his technique in a simplified matter so as to get his method across. I highly recommend Sifu Clear and ALL the arts he teaches in ANY videos. Train Harder, Dan

Essential for all Internal Combat Arts Enthusiasts
If you are a martial artist, you can get no better instruction than from Richard E Clear JR he is a true Master that knows how to transmit functional utility from whatever art you learn from him. No, I am not one of his personal students. ( I wish I lived close enough to him to be one though.) Not in person anyway but, just watch what he does, how he does it, and hear what he says and how he distills complicated and complex information into simple and easy to understand terms in a way that enables you to actually use what he is teaching you about and you will know that he is a true master of whatever art he chooses to teach others about. He is a tall drink of cool water in a desolate waste land of Mc Dojo's and false marketing. Yes, Mr. Clear is the Real Deal. I would recommend all of his products! For this particular DVD I would also recommend the previous two videos to this one as it would definitely help you understand all concepts. I did not initially as Bagua was my primary...

Lynching Charlie Lynch

Thank for Watching
Charles Lynch here, just wanted to say thanks for watching the video...Rick Ray is a true patriot for getting my story out there. Visit [...] for more info.

The Federal Government is Backwards.
So yeah... without a doubt, the feds are out of control on this issue pertaining to cannabis. There is no reason for propping up these antiquated laws which serve no purpose other than to intimidate and scare away legitimate business and use around a perfectly safe and helpful drug. Meanwhile, hasn't anyone ever considered how prohibition is only giving the drug cartels more power rather then less? The US Government is kidding themselves.

This documentary was well done and spot on. I wish Charlie Lynch the best in the midst of his horrendous circumstances.

Thanks DEA creeps. Thanks for nothing.

Thought Provoking View for Use of Medical Marijuana
I ordered LYNCHING CHARLIE LYNCH from Amazon and was pleased with the prompt delivery time.

This proved to be very interesting and certainly showed the pros and cons of medical marijuana. Charlie Lynch seemed like a very honest and decent man who was quite unjustly persecuted though he was totally compliant with the law and filled a need for those who were using the medical side of marijuana for legitimate reasons............rather than using harmful strong drugs with numerous side effects. One certainly has to feel sympathy toward this man.

Kun Tao Silat

Sigun Clear Has A Great Program
I have a number of Sigung Clear's DVD's, and have attended one of his hands-on classes. I highly recommend his work, especially to Tai Chi students who are not getting "application" from their current teachers. Richard Clear is not a "forms" and "exercise for health" teacher. He is the voice of experience, and has studied a long time in various arts. He is able to synthesize the best parts of all, yet keep them separate for teaching purposes. I highly recommend this product to anyone who wants to take their "internal art" to the next level of self defense and achievement.

Kuntao Silat DVD Internal Fighting Arts
For many years, I have sought some form of quality introduction to the internal fighting arts of Tai Chi, Hsing I, and Pa Kua. Having no qualified instructor near me, I often turn to DVD options. There are many options available, but really, they're mostly hard to follow, or so directed toward health benefits, that the aspiring martial artist is left with nothing with which to work.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I obtained this instructional DVD. It's exceptionally well made, with good camera angles and quality sound.

The concepts, principles, and theories are conveyed always with an eye toward their applicability in real fighting. I say "real fighting," as many instructors say they will deliver this, but fail. For whatever reason, so many people teaching internal arts seem quite divorced from the nature of actual, violent, criminal assault. Not so with this instruction!

One very pleasant discovery with this DVD is the instruction on...

Kun Tao Silat DVD
A thoughtful and detailed explanation of one of the "softer" martial arts which always leaves you with wanting more. Sometimes the approach is a little more focussed on future sales which does not fully fit my taste; thus the loss of one star. ;however I would recommend for the non -beginner.

Fusion Fitness Dream Body Workout

A Good Workout Is Ruined by Too Much...Everything
When I first came across this DVD, it piqued my interest. It looked like a different, fun and effective Tracy Anderson-like workout (I really enjoy Tracy's style of workouts) and seemed to have a crowd of loyal fans singing its praises. When I finally got it home and watched it, however, two things became apparent to me:

1. This is a very effective and challenging workout. And
2. It has a very high annoyance factor. Too high for me, in fact.

The instructor has come up with some unique body sculpting mat moves utilizing nothing but your own resistance, a set of light weights and a stability ball. The style seems to be a aerobic/tone blend, with low-impact cardio moves interspersed with toning moves. Even the toning moves, however, are done at a super-fast pace (TOO fast for me...It seems like there is a whole bunch of flailing around at times and form is sacrificed to speed). It appears to be an actual class that is being filmed, so there is the...

Looks a good workout but not for me
I bought this as a lot of my online workout friends had too. I mainly do barre workouts (Tracey Mallett, Bar Method, Phyisque 57). my main goal when working out is to stay toned. I dont need to lose weight so I choose things that dont have as much cardio in them. If you love a lot of intense cardio and working up a sweat then you will probably love this. For me i found my neck ached pretty bad after, probably from so many mountain climber reps. Its just personal choice. My legs tend to bloat too with too much much cardio and i like them slim and lean like how barre workouts keep them. Its not a bad workout if you like high intense workouts but i really have to be into it to keep up the workout and I just wasnt with this. The bubbles were annoying..maybe ok for your first workout but gets old after and she goes on and on and on.

Intense, fun, and creative
Ok, so I actually purchased this DVD online after I previewed it on another website. I was a bit sceptical because after viewing the preview several times, I thought the instructor "Darby" was going to be annoying (well her voice actually) and it looked very easy. Looks are decieving. This routine is challenging and Darby's voice is not too annoying. The format is fun with the bubble girl pop ups. I wanted a change and I also wanted something different. I received my DVD last week and let me tell you this DVD is no joke. It is almost like a barre routine type workouts on steroids. You do a lot of plank type combo exercises and you use you body weight. The section where you use the Swiss ball for you abs and legs is creative and hard at the same time, so that this week when I did ball section of this routine, I used my barre3 ball which made it easier for me. I love the fact that they are usings actual clients in the DVD and everyone is working at their own pace which makes...

Benson - Season 2

Benson Season Two
Will someone please have a heart and release the complete series of Benson, with explanations and interviews from the creators explaining the extended plot line of the series cliffhangers for both "Benson" and "Soap", which ended a little too soon. I would simply like to know how they intended to finish the various character's storylines. After all, without "Soap", there would be no "Benson".

Review of product, not the quality of the show itself
May 2, 4:24pm
This is just preliminary review. I will amend with updates.

While I do recognize that this is a DVD-R, one can expect the discs not to have scratches. Unfortunately this expectation was wrong. Disc 1 and Disc 2 (out of 3) were scratched. I do not know what the quality of playback is yet, as have just received the package 30 minutes ago.

The DVD case will not stay securely shut due to the bottom tab being snapped off. So far, every expectation has fallen through. The product did not come with ANY inserts or even episode list. This is a VERY bare bones offering. Unfortunately, this is the only way to get the second season without resorting to alternative means. Hopefully playback will be trouble free.

Update to follow...

May 3, 5:00pm
After having a chance to actually view several episodes, I am somewhat irritated and displeased. While the episodes are very clear when they play, I have had some glitches and...

"Generic" or not, I am pleased
Ok, so there is no episode listing on the DVD packaging, there are no fancy decorations on the discs, and there are no behind-the-scenes footage or bloopers, but you know what? Every uncut Season 2 episode is there, and that's what I care most about. Given that the progression of this show on DVD was on life support a short time ago, I am grateful to Sony for finding a way to keep it moving and get it into the hands of the fans who have been waiting so long. Manufacture on Demand? Go ahead and release the remainder of the seasons the same way if you must, just release them.

I will add that I found it interesting that they threw in the first two episodes of Season 3. I just hope that doesn't mess up the flow of future releases in any way, and I really hope it doesn't mean this is as good as it gets. Also, the episodes were out of order on Disc 3, but I was just glad to see they were all there.

Thanks, Sony, and keep them coming because I personally feel that this...

Breaking the fatigue cycle

Robert changed our lives
My wife and I cannot say enough good things about Robert and his insights into nutrition. We were both burning the entire candle with a blowtorch at work, and trying to balance other priorities in our lives. Needless to say, we were crashing and burning. Robert gave us very practical advice on nutrition and supplements. We actually spend less time cooking now than we did before (hello preparation). We know what food to eat, even if we are eating out. Our sleep quality is ten times better than before. We just had a new baby, and while our schedule is a bit erratic right now - our energy levels and adrenals are not being destroyed like they were before. My doctor said to me at my last physical "I'm not sure what you are doing, but keep doing it." My blood pressure, cholesterol levels, and weight had all dropped to very healthy levels.

Reading Robert's book is great - because now we have a detailed guide to the method behind the advice we received. The wisdom that...

Ghost Story aka Circle of Fear: The Complete First Season

GHOST STORY/CIRCLE OF FEAR is back from the grave! Long Live the '70's!!!
Hey 1970's kids! The show that scared you to death is available on DVD at long last! GHOST STORY/CIRCLE OF FEAR (1972-73) is back! The series was produced by the legendary William Castle and stars Sebastian Cabot ("Family Affair", "The Time Machine") as Winston Essex, the proprietor of an old hotel that is haunted by various ghosts and other supernatural creatures. For the GHOST STORY episodes, Cabot introduced each episode. Halfway through the series' one-and-only season, Cabot was dropped from the show and it was retitled CIRCLE OF FEAR. Writers for both incarnations of the show included Richard Matheson, Robert Specht, Anthony Lawrence, Seeleg Lester, D.C. Fontana, Henry Slesar, Robert Bloch and Harlan Ellison. The following is a list of episode titles for all 23 episodes (each episode runs approximately 51 minutes).
GHOST STORY:
1. "GHOST STORY: The New House"--Guest Starring Barbara Parkins, Jeanette Nolan, Sam Jaffe, David Birney (NOTE: This originally aired as...

Fantastic
I consider Ghost Story (Circle of Fear) to be one of the best horror anthology series ever made and I am a fan of others such as Thriller and Night Gallery. This DVD package delivers the goods, the shows look as though they were filmed yesterday. They have top notch authors and big name actors performing in them. It is a shame that the series was cancelled after only one season. When comparing this series to it's contemporary, The Night Gallery I rate it as far superior. The special effects are top notch and not cheesy, there are no "humorous" sketches, just riveting and suspenceful programs. Sebastian Cabot does a great job as the shows host, although the Mansfield House itself is very cheerful and serene when contrasted with the stories presented. Cabot was jetisoned as the host a little more than half way through the series when it was switched over to Circle of Fear due to poor ratings. His departure and the new format was not enough to save the show from cancellation. I...

OUTSTANDING & LONG OVERDUE!!!
UPDATE: Now that I've received the dvds it's time for an update. The picture quality is superb and everyone should be happy. The only let down is the cheap menus that were created for the episodes. All you get is a listing of episodes with images of various Sony tvs in the background. Apparently, where the menus are concerned, creativity is not required when making these on demand dvd sets even though the price is higher than a standard set.
Overall this set is still well worth the price for the rarity and cult status that this tv series holds.

This is fantastic! The classic anothology series from the early 70s is finally seeing a dvd release!
This series was made when tv productions were still original, creative, and not cheap to make reality shows.
Even though the price is slightly high and the set is dvd-r it is still worth it and a small price to pay for being able to own this classic series!!

Xing Yi Quan (Hsing-I Chaun) - Fighting Secrets of the Internal Combat Arts

iClear Delivers The Goods
I have studied martial arts for quite a long time. In my later years, I have taken up Tai Chi Chuan because of some age and profession related physical limitations. I discovered Sigung Clear's work while searching for applications of Tai Chi to self defense. I have been a fan and a student ever since, even visiting his school in Tennessee. He has an excellent presentation and a far-reaching set of experiences and skills in a number of the martial arts, developed over thirty years of active study and instruction. If you wish to study the self-defense side of Tai Chi, and you really want to learn at home, Clear is your guy. I highly recommend any of his DVD courses. They deliver what they advertise.

For the student who wants to learn how to fight instead of doing form work or standing practice.
So in the interest of full disclosure, I helped make these videos and I've been a student of Sigung Clear for several years.

This video is part 2 in a 4 volume set on the internal arts. You don't need the first video to understand this one. However if you are completely new to the martial arts or you find yourself struggling with any of the stuff on this video just get Volume 1 Kun Tao Silat and that should help.

What this DVD does NOT have: Forms.

If you are looking for sets or better ways to do standing practice you should look somewhere else.

The video starts by teaching you how to hit with more power. Then it jumps right into the fighting methods of the 5 elements.

Through this study of the methods within each fist you learn how to use them against an aggressive and unpredictable attacker. And it's much more fun than learning forms and then trying to...

Kids Learn Hindi with Bollywood Baby

Worthy effort that could potentially become something great
All at once uniquely Indian and yet not, the DVD Bollywood Baby offers parents a fun alternative to the multitude of Baby Einstein and other such DVDs on the market for young children. The simple story follows Choti Maya, the little girl in the middle of preparations for her birthday, and her three friends comprised of a monkey ("Babloo Bandar"), an elephant ("Hathi Raja"), and a lion ("Sher Singh"). All three of Choti Maya's animal friends have certain colors they like, and they decide to present her with birthday gifts corresponding to their favorite colors. The story ends when all three friends arrive at Choti Maya's house for the party and the celebration commences.

Bollywood Baby offers viewers a familiar concept: puppets and/or marionette-type characters using songs and other tools to teach children. Here, too, Choti Maya and her friends take the opportunity to teach non-Hindi speaking viewers some basic words in that language, and the potential for a DVD--or,...

Wow - really good music, lots of fun!
Because I'm a father, I watch a lot of kids stuff, and usually find it (especially the lyrics) kind of dumb... My kids might not mind hearing the words "happy" and "fun" over and over again, but for me it gets kind of mind-numbing. But I really enjoyed the musical numbers in this one.

The music was catchy and the lyrics were clever. My kids and I have been going around singing a few of the tunes, which stuck in our heads after just the first viewing. It's also a really colorful and vibrant story, with a nice, sincere message.

I'd definitely recommend it if you've got kids anywhere in the 3-5 range.

Kids can't get enough!
I have a 3 year old and a one year old and this is one show that holds both of their attention with equal fervor! It is too cute hearing my son ask for "Bollywood Baby" and saying the character names over and over. Did I mention we bought the DVD yesterday and I have already gotten multiple requests from them both!?! My husband is of Indian heritage and although our family is not in touch with the culture, it is important for me that my children know about the background that they come from. This DVD offers that unique insight but also appeals to the masses as this video is one of the first exposures to Indian culture produced just for children that I have seen. As a mom, ultimately you have to be able the tolerate what your children are watching because whether it not we like it, we will hear it over and over! Thankfully, the music and storyline from "Bollywood Baby" are fun for me too and I alread find myself singing the songs! In today's interconnected world, this DVD is great...
