Great videos!!
Bob gets right to it in these videos. (well, after introducing his dog)
Bob Rupert shows the basic tools you will need. He then teaches each basic black-smithing technique,as well as common mistakes to avoid.
I learned a lot and it really boosted my confidence and speed in my back-yard-fooling-around forge.
The second disk is all about how to build the fire in the forge, keep it going, and take it down properly when done. This is information I haven't found anywhere else. It improved the heat of my forge considerably and the hotter metal hammers out better and faster.
Combined with Lorelei Sims book I was able to quickly make six twisted S-hooks. (I even made a 2 handled monkey wrench like Bob suggested, great tool!)
Well, I sold some of those S-hooks to friends and recouped the money I spent on this video!
Buy this if you are a beginner, amateur, or wanna-be blacksmith.
Good video
Really good video for the beginner. If anyone was interested in being a smith, I'd say, "Start here with this."
Useful visual guide of basic techniques in blacksmithing
A good DVD but some of the camera work is no longer up to contemporary standard. The content is well presented and clear and a useful visual reference for anyone starting out on their blacksmithing journey.
